Tim Bennett
Coming from a farming background, I was always heavily involved with horses as a child, when I hunted and was a keen competitor at local show level. I was also a member of the Western Hunt Pony Club.
When I left school I joined the Household Cavalry Regiment where I rode for the British Army Eventing Team, Show Jumped for the Regiment. I also rode on several State Escorts and for the Household Cavalry Quadrille Display Team, performing with them at large Agricultural Shows, Horse of the Year Show and the Royal Tournament.
After leaving the Army, I worked as transport & logistics manager for the music, conference and media industry travelling worldwide providing on site management.
I have worked for:-
- BMW as Transport co-ordinator for the 1993 Frankfurt Motorshow
- The Swiss production of the Musical CATS
- Formula One Promotions & Administration in Japan, overseeing Customs and transportation of F1 equipment to Suzuka Circuit and return to the UK after the Race.
- British Airways, as a consultant in both Spain and Israel for the Escape Promotion Tour and in 1998 for the launch of the new BA colours.
- Cadillac at the 1997 Frankfurt Motorshow for their new World Premier Launch and in the same year for Toyota's AVENSIS Car Launch in Manchester.
- John Majors 1997 Pre-Election Campaign Tour as the Transport Co-ordinator.
- The 1998 Asian and European Minister meeting in Westminster London as the transport manager where I spent several weeks pre-production organising and then implementing the plans for the event. I was responsible for liaising with two police forces and parking agencies throughout the event that spread over 7 venues. I was also the overall transport co-ordinator for the European Council Meeting in Cardiff and had control over all transport movements in and out of a secure site, liaising with police and council for road closures. I also had overall responsibility for the OB Compound, which housed the World's Media technical vehicles. I was Site Manager for the Outside Broadcast Vehicle Compound for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting at Edinburgh during which time I had to liaise with the Worlds Media Officials and all the Security and Police personnel on site.
- Microsoft for their Tech Ed conferences, both as transport manager and as production assistant helping with the running of the exhibition side of the conference. I was also production assistant for the Rover 75 car launch in Jerez, Spain. My experience has enabled me to act as a consultant, working onsite and from home, doing pre-production work for forthcoming projects for K.B. Event.
I then set up an Equestrian Centre near Toronto, Canada before deciding to return to the U.K. where I established a new Equestrian Facility at Brechin providing a full range of disciplines to all levels of rider and starting a new official British Eventing One Day Event.
I am on the British Eventing Course Builder's Panel & have sat the Sports Council Child Protection Course. I am a fully qualified first aider having sat the H.S.E. Equestrian related 3 year course.
